Tooth Exposure

Ortho exposure is a minor surgical procedure to expose an impacted tooth that has failed to erupt through the gums, allowing an orthodontist to attach an appliance, typically a bracket and chain, to guide the tooth into its correct position in the dental arch. The procedure involves removing gum tissue and sometimes bone to reach the hidden tooth. After the tooth is exposed and a bracket is bonded to it, a chain is used by the orthodontist to apply gentle, continuous force, slowly pulling the tooth into alignment.
